Introduction
Join us for a special Lab Talk celebrating a landmark year for architecture in Catalonia. Marking Gaudí’s anniversary, the “crowning” of the Sagrada Familia’s cross, and Barcelona’s designation as World Capital of Architecture 2026, this event explores the future of urban development through the lens of history.
How can a city with a rich architectural heritage evolve to meet the challenges of tomorrow?
In Catalonia and cities such as Barcelona, the dialogue between past and present is obvious. Visionary architects of earlier eras can now be seen as pioneers of climate-adapted design. Our discussion brings together leading voices from planning, architecture, and engineering to examine how the legacy of modernism is transformed into the present day, taking social responsibility, the role of urban greenery, and strategies for climate adaptation and resilience in today’s cities into account.
