Task

The aim of the project is to design an urban development along the banks of the river Spree. Downstream, and a significant distance away from the center, lies the industrial area of Oberschöneweide with its impressive brick buildings. In our studio we promote a time for change for this area to test what is possible and sustainable. Examples for the Oberschöneweide sites could come from international developments such as the Bronx or upcoming Soho. Culture can be a driver as reknown artists such as Ólafur Eliasson, Alicja Kwade, Jorinde Voigt and others move their studio spaces to this area by the river. During the workshop at the Aedes Network Campus Berlin, we worked on the topic of transformation and visited selected best practice examples on various field trips.

This university design studio is part of the ANCB theme Learning From.

What if..

Oberschöneweide could be a state-of-the-art urban area?
