Introduction
The trend towards even more urbanisation is unbroken. Whereas for a long time it was only a question of simply increasing the usable space in the buildings themselves, in recent years the quality of the space between the buildings has increasingly come to the fore. But how do you open up as much space as possible for living and working, while at the same time creating the high standards in design, structural and environmental quality required by the Leipzig Charter?
The CTBUH event presents examples from very different areas – and invites all participants to discuss possible developments in our own cities. The public debate and subsequent discussion will be moderated by Boris Schade-Bünsow, editor-in-chief of Bauwelt.

Background
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is an international body in the field of tall buildings and sustainable urban design. A nonprofit organisation based in Chicago, the CTBUH is widely considered to be an authority on the official height of tall buildings. Its stated mission is to study and report on all aspects of the planning, design, and construction of tall buildings.
