Transmaterial Aesthetics: Experiments with Timber in Architecture and Technology
The International Conference by HS Wismar and UTS Sydney explored the increasing use of timber in architecture, showcasing how it is combined with other materials to create innovative structures with altered properties. The conference highlighted the emergence of a new techno-aesthetic paradigm called transmateriality and referenced historical and contemporary examples of timber applications in architecture.
DESIGN PROCESS
The talk explored whether minimalism in design means focusing on essentials and if it leads to comfort and structural clarity.
