Studio Spaces

Aedes’ attractive studios host up to 40 participants, supporting both individual and team-based design work. Facilities include 24-hour access, a self-catering kitchen, a printer and a plotter, faculty accommodation and a beautiful garden – all in central Berlin.

Alternative Education

As an internationally renowned platform for exhibiting and discussing contemporary space-making, Aedes is committed to engaging the next generation of architects and planners. In collaboration with leading universities worldwide, Aedes offers a space for alternative built-environment education.

Whether as a summer school, part of a semester excursion, or a full-semester programme, students and their professors explore globally relevant topics through specific case-study sites or building typologies in Berlin. The studios reflect the city’s rich diversity of form, scale, public space and discourses.

With its cutting-edge programme, Aedes inspires creative and unconventional exchanges between students and leading international minds from architecture, industry, governance, culture, research and activism.

Exchange and Collaborations

Aedes fosters exchange between visiting universities, involves them in the programme, provides guidance and support to the studios, and Aedes curators offer expert feedback during studio presentations.

Aedes offers

  • Fully equipped studio space accommodating up to two groups of 15–20 participants
  • Wi-Fi, projectors, printer, plotter, basic model-making material, kitchen and garden
  • Facilitation of exchange between universities and of university’s participation in the Aedes programme

  • Participation of Aedes curators in the final presentation
  • Communication of the design studio and its outcomes via the Aedes website
